The Goji Berry has been used traditionally by the Tibetans, Chinese, Japanese and Korean for health and wellbeing. In traditional Chinese Medicine are believed to enhance immune system function, improve eyesight, protect the liver, boost sperm production, and improve circulation. They are generally consumed raw, made into a juice or wine and the berries and leaves are sometimes used to brew a tea.
Goji Berries are full of phytonutrients that have antioxidant actions which play an important role in protecting cells from damaging effects of free radicals, in particular a betacarotene and a carotenoid called Zeaxanthin that can protect eyes against macular degeneration.
